Training Grant Allows for Continuous Education at Montgomery County EMS

Late last year, WorkForce Essentials and the North Tennessee Workforce Board received word that the Incumbent Worker Training Grant it applied for on behalf of Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services had been approved.  Since then, EMS has been effectively utilizing the $24,993 training grant to boost the skills of 21 of its current team members.

In operation for 43 years, Montgomery County EMS has seen significant growth within the Clarksville and surrounding communities. County leadership embraced the opportunity this training grant provided to advance the skills of its emergency workers and support the safety of its employees, volunteers and citizens. County Mayor Carolyn Bowers stated, “We are thrilled to receive this grant through Workforce Essentials. Training and education are a significant focus for us and this will allow us to expand our offerings for the employees of EMS.”

Advanced courses in death investigation and interviewing in addition to tuition assistance for Paramedics in training have been made possible with these training funds. “This grant has allowed us to provide vital education to our administrative and supervisory teams along with offering tuition assistance to EMS employees who are currently enrolled in the paramedic program,” added Bill Webb, Lieutenant, Montgomery County EMS.
