TDOT Planning Meeting July 6

Montgomery County Government is partnering with Representative Jay Reedy and the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to host a public input meeting, called a "Book a Planner" meeting, on Monday, July 6 at 5 p.m., at the William O. Beach Civic Hall, 350 Pageant Lane.

"Book-a-Planner" is an interactive outreach program and presentation, administered through the Long Range Planning Department's Office of Community Transportation (OCT) staff. Attendees are able to share their input via live polling to assist TDOT in making sure the community's future needs are addressed.

Rep Reedy states, "We need your input! Transportation is an issue that continues to plague Tennessee and it's time to make your voices heard on what you feel are priorities. This process is done across the state and the information gathered is invaluable to the future of transportation in our state."

County Mayor Jim Durrett adds, "Our transportation problems aren't concentrated locally, but they are a regional topic right now. This is your opportunity to voice your thoughts on how to address them. These issues won't be solved overnight, but through this process, we can identify what citizen's feel should be priorities. I encourage you to attend."

By 2040,Tennessee is projected to have an additional 2 million people and be the 15th most populous State in the United States. With this growth will come increased economic and community development challenges as well as issues related to planning and accommodating future demand. One key challenge will be providing and maintaining the quality transportation system that the traveling public and businesses in Tennessee have come to rely upon. We need your help to ensure that the needs of ourcommunity are addressed as we look to the future.
