Montgomery County Departments Receive GNRC Awards

Montgomery County Government received two awards from the Greater Nashville Regional Council at its 46th Annual Regional Planning and Economic Development Meeting on Thursday, September 19. The annual event held this year in Henderson, TN, presented 25 awards to various cities and counties for programs and initiatives that have exhibited excellence and innovation over that last calendar year. Montgomery County was recognized in two categories; Parks and Recreations and Public Safety.

Montgomery County Animal Control and Adoption Services was selected for a Public Safety award for the use of their mobile adoption trailer. This new addition allows animals to be transported to events and activities around the community, and showcased for adoption. The mobile adoption trailer was purchased last fiscal year and has already given many dogs and cats a new chance at forever homes.

The Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Department received an award for the renovation/rehabilitation of the South Guthrie Community Center and the construction of Horseshoe Pit Arena at St. Bethlehem Civitan Park. Both projects allow citizens a new venue for entertainment and enhance the recreation opportunities for the citizens of Montgomery County.

We congratulate those departments that were selected by the Greater Nashville Regional Council for their efforts and appreciate all they do to make Montgomery County a great place to live.
