Library Debuts Fold3 Military Genealogy Database

Genealogy enthusiasts now have access to a military genealogy database—Fold3—at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library (CMCPL).

Fold3 joins the genealogical database line-up already offered by the Library, including Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com. Researchers, hobby genealogists, and anyone interested in military genealogy can easily access more than 440 million records beginning with the Revolutionary War and bring to life the stories of America's military veterans. These records include photos, personal documents, stories, and other personal documents. Fold3 is named after the traditional flag folding ceremony, where in the third fold honors Veterans and those who have served.

According to Annie Herlocker, Assistant Director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, "Our military community is one of our largest service groups. Genealogy is also a continuing area of interest to our library users, as well as anything relating to military and veteran history. Fold3 is a rich resource and a valuable addition to our online genealogy offerings."

Fold3 can be accessed inside of the Library with or without a Library card and from home with a Library card. Find this resource on www.clarksville.org on the Genealogy tab, or http://www.mcgtn.org/library/genealogy. The Library invites anyone interested in genealogy to attend a free, weekly Genealogy Club that meets every Monday from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Brown Harvey, Sr. Genealogy Room.
