Imagination Library Partners with Gateway Medical Center

Imagination Library of Montgomery County has partnered with Gateway Medical Center to give all of its Montgomery County newborns a copy of The Little Engine That Could, the first Imagination Library book, upon birth. This new initiative began in early July of this year and has already proven to be a fruitful partnership.

Martha Hendricks, Montgomery County Imagination Library committee chair, states, "Encouraging reading at an early age is the goal of Imagination Library and by getting books in the hands of new moms on day one, we hope to instill a love of reading from birth. Another positive is that we have seen significant growth in our program enrollment since the inception of this program. This initiative has increased awareness of our local program so much that our enrollment has increased over 15% since July!"

Andrew Mueller, COO for Gateway and Imagination Library committee members, states, "When the idea of the partnership was introduced, it was really an easy decision on our part. Our nurses have been great advocates of the program and obviously any program that benefits the parents and newborns is a great addition to our services."

Imagination Library is a free program for children ages birth to 5, which mails participants an age appropriate book a month until age 5. For more information,or to enroll a child in the Imagine Library program, visit usa.imaginationlibrary.com.
