Early Warning Siren System Offline Sept 11-13

Clarksville’s Early Warning Siren System will be offline from September 11 through September 13, 2012.

"The Federal Communications Commission has changed some of the requirements regarding the radio frequencies used to activate the system. In order to comply with the new requirements, the system will have to be updated. Once the changes are in place, the public will not notice any differences in the way the system operates," said Doug Sampley, Director of the Clarksville City Information Technology Department.

The changes require personnel to climb the poles on which the sirens are located making it impossible to update the system during the nighttime hours. It is expected that the system will be fully updated and operational by September 14, 2012.
