Booster Seat Program

The Montgomery County Driver Safety Program recently received booster seats from MeHarry Medical College on a grant they received through the TN Governors Highway Safety Office. The Drivers Safety Program received 290 booster seats to distribute to local elementary schools. Each of the 24 CMCSS elementary schools received seats, varying in size and age capacity for discretionary distribution.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office partnered on the delivery of the seats to the elementary schools and the school resource officer in each school will work with school administration to identify families that could use new or additional seats.

Lisa McClain, Driver Safety Administrator states, "This child passenger seat grant is a great opportunity for our community. We know there are children that aren't riding in the appropriate seats and we know there are parents that want their child to be safe, but may not have the means to purchase a new seat as a child grows, so this is a great solution! Safety is of the utmost importance and we are pleased to be able to provide seats for those families that need them. We're helping to save children's lives, one child passenger seat at a time."

Sheriff John Fuson adds, "It was a great fit for us to link our school resource officers with the Driver Safety Program. They see the need for child booster seats from time to time in the child pick up line, but until now they couldn't correct the situation on the spot. As law enforcement, we know child passenger safety is important and anyday we have the opportunity to be proactive and increase safety for a child is a great day!"
